A lot of horses appreciate a thinner mouthpiece. Traditionally it is seen as harsher than a thick mouth, but more recently it has been found that some horses find a wider mouthpiece 'gagging', making it more uncomfortable to work with. For this type of horse, the thinner french link loose ring could be ideal. Mild, french link action along with loose rings for subtlety of instruction could be the key! We find this bit quite small fitting so would advise to go up half a size on your horse's normal fitting. Always try out a new bit in the prescence of an experienced friend or trainer as you cannot always factor for how a horse will react.
**Ask your trainer's advice before changing your bit, they have the experience to suggest what might work best for you and your horse.
