Air O Wear

Air O Wear

Airowear was established in 1985 by Lucy Carr-Seaman and since then has been a worldwide leader of innovation in equestrian body protection. Now owned by Charles Owen, Airowear continues to excel in design expertise and rider safety. They have created a design which moulds to the form of the rider and protects the vital organs and ribs in the event of a fall, having rare gender specific body protectors which differ based on the body differences of men and women.

Since Beta level 1, 2 and 3 safety standards were introduced in 1995, every body protector by Airowear has achieved certification for every safety standard.

Airowear body protectors are CE marked to EN13158 and annually tested to BETA 2018, giving you peace of mind that their body protectors consistently meet the latest safety standards.

Airowear at Throstlenest

All of the Airowear body protectors we currently stock at Throstlenest have reassurance of the highest European & BETA 2009 or 2018 Level 3 protection.

(In performance terms there is no difference in the amount of protection offered by the two versions; The 2009 version will cease manufacture at the end of 2018, but disciplines and rider organisations will continue to recognise and accept these until further notice.)

Level 3, identified by a Purple or Turquoise Label - is considered appropriate for general riding, competitions including eventing, and working with horses. It is the highest level of protection available in a body protector.
